We at the Klamath Basin Audubon Society provide opportunities for people of all ages to experience and appreciate our region's birds and other natural resources. We achieve this mission through educational programs, field trips, and Grants that support worthy local or regional projects.
Monthly Programs
Interested in what we do? Come join us for our monthly, public programs. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May, with the exception of December and February, from 6:30-8:30 pm. Meetings are currently being held via ZOOM and registration is require . You can register on our home page, HERE.
Other Educational Activities
We also offer many interactive educational experiences. These activities help bring the birds of the Klamath Basin to any and all who would enjoy them. Below are some of the opportunites we provide.
Field trips to observe and learn about the Basin's birds and other natural resources.
Annual Winter Wings Festival that celebrates the birds that make their winter home in the Basin.
Maintenance of nest boxes for bluebirds and other species at Miller Island and Moore Park.
Activities and information booth at local events, including International Migratory Bird Day (Veterans Park, Klamath Falls), the Tule Lake Bird Festival, and Earth Day (OIT).
Coordination of educational programs for local teachers that take advantage of the resources provided by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
Grant program that supports local elementary teachers with projects that connect kids with birds and nature.
Conservation
Being blessed with a plethora of wilderness areas, marshes and forests, lakes and rivers, KBAS members know how important these areas are for humanity's well-being. We like to keep abreast of what we can do to help preserve our wilderness areas nationwide so that everyone has the opportunity to be touched by nature: to see a flock of song birds, to witness the flight of a raptor, to listen to the merry melody of a crystal clear spring. The National Audubon Society provides timely, pertinent updates on all of the important environmental issues at the national level and provides easy avenues for acting to preserve the wilderness areas within our nation.
