KBAS operates two grant funding programs. The KBAS Grants provide funds to local groups or individuals for projects that contribute to the mission of KBAS. The Scott Education Grants are specifically for teachers in the area's learning institutions, to help them connect kids with nature.

KBAS Grants

The Klamath Basin Audubon Society offers grants of up to $2,500 to support local individuals or non-profit groups that are working on projects that further the mission of the Society. Specifically, we prefer to fund projects that contribute to opportunities for people to experience and appreciate our region's natural resources, including birds, bird habitats, and other wildlife. These grants are in addition to the Scott Education Grants, which have a different purpose and are described below.

Grants are considered as received. Grant applications are below, and completed applications should be emailed to klamathauduboninfo@gmail.com or, if absolutely necessary, mailed to: KBAS, P.O. Box 354, Klamath Falls, OR 97601. Applications will be considered at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting (see Calendar for dates and times). Applications must be received at least four days before the meeting at which it is to be considered.

Funding for this program comes in large part from revenues generated by the annual Winter Wings Festival.

Scott Education Grants

KBAS thanks the Herschel Wayne Scott and Lois Ann Scott Estates for their generosity and commitment to environmental and wildlife education for the children of the Klamath Basin. Since 2004, KBAS has operated a grant program on their behalf with the purpose of awarding instructional grants to area educators in Klamath, Lake, Modoc, and Siskiyou counties, in either public or private learning institutions. Emphasis is placed on teachers for grades K-6, but the selection committee may consider other education programs that provide outreach to children under the age of 18 who live in the Klamath Basin. This program began in 1996 under the guidance of Wayne and Lois Ann Scott and was funded by the Klamath Basin Audubon Society.

Grants for up to $400 will be considered. The deadline for submitting applications is January 31, and successful applicants will be notified by February 15. Grant applications are below, and completed applications should be emailed to Jim Rooks at runningyrooks@charter.net, or, if absolutely necessary, mailed to: KBAS, P.O.
